My daughter Ra’Gene Brittnae’ Myrick was born on December 8, 1994.  Two weeks after her birth she was diagnosed with a seizure disorder.  Ra’Gene incurred other medical problems along the way that resulted in her being non-verbal, non-mobile and being fed with a G-Tube.

As a family, we participated in early intervention where Ra’Gene received physical, speech and occupational therapy.  After completing the three year program with early intervention, Ra’Gene transitioned to public school.

Our daughter, Ra’Gene passed away in August of 2000 at the age of 5.

Ra’Gene was a precious little girl who was a gift to us. She had a beautiful smile and expressive eyes. Ra’Gene taught us a great deal about the importance of being good parent advocates. Throughout Ra’Gene’s life I was able to represent families of children with special needs living in the Tidewater/Eastern Shore and Richmond/Central Virginia regions.

Thinking back to the many equipment and/or services that Ra’Gene needed, I am very appreciative to the many parents who shared their resources with me.  Parents learn from parents! That is why I decided to start this foundation in 2004 in honor of my daughter, Ra’Gene.
